Investing in Our Team and Communities – CNX Responds to the COVID-19 Crisis

CNX Responds to the COVID-19 Crisis

PITTSBURGH, PA (April 21) – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge the tri-state region and far beyond, CNX Resources Corporation (NYSE: CNX) is responding by investing in its front-line field employees and the communities where it operates.

“Nothing is more important to us than our role as a responsible leader in this community for 156 years. That’s why we looked first at our field team who operates on the front lines to ensure the natural gas that powers our society and economy continues to flow. We invested in our unsung heroes and provided them with a $1,250 bonus in appreciation for their around-the-clock efforts during this crisis,” said CNX President and CEO Nick DeIuliis. “But we also know that our communities are struggling during this time, so we developed a plan to help with resources and manpower to do all we can for our neighbors in need,” continued Mr. DeIuliis. “We learned early on from our community partners that the challenge in this pandemic was going to be more than just financial. That’s why we are mobilizing our employees to serve as volunteers to ensure that food and other essential items are making their way to our area’s most vulnerable populations.”

CNX has pledged its support to nonprofit groups in the region. The community response plan involves a $35,000 donation benefitting organizations including:

  • Washington County Food Bank
  • Westmoreland County Food Bank
  • Corner Cupboard Food Bank
  • Washington County Community Foundation – Close to Home Disaster & Emergency Fund
  • The Salvation Army, Washington County
  • Domestic Violence Services of SWPA
  • SWPA Area Agency on Aging

Since early April, CNX volunteers have been packing and distributing food boxes to families in need at drive-thru locations in Greene County. Going forward they will also be delivering supplies to seniors and distributing food to students. In Washington County, the Salvation Army is currently providing supplemental food and supplies to 1,600 students per week (normal distribution is 597). CNX has pledged more than 60 volunteers to these organizations throughout Washington, Greene and Westmoreland counties over the next two months.

Mr. DeIuliis concluded, “We welcome our designation as an essential business critical to the continued functioning of our society and economy. In times like these, society has always leaned on bedrock industries like ours to help us weather storms together. The situation we all face today is no different and we are proud to answer the call on behalf of our fellow citizens.”
